I have always been inspired by the story of Alice in Wonderland. I love the whimsy and the bold/lively characters sprinkled throughout the story. In particular, the white rabbit really speaks to me.
To me, the white rabbit in the story means following unlikely clues and finding ourselves in the middle of an extraordinary situation. These situation often challenges our beliefs and changes our life. This painting is inspired by the idea of finding time to sit with ones’ thoughts and ideas – to rediscover ourselves.
Giving ourselves the permission and time to follow our curiosity , to dive deep into our thoughts and ideas- and emerged with a more comfortable self.

I first heard about this quote from my cousin, Dawn Cho.
It is such a simple phrase, but it holds so much meaning, feelings , memories and time.
The hours are long when I’m with my children, but looking back, the days are short.
For this painting, I wanted different patterns for the fabric draping from the two characters- they represent the different passages through time.
In particular, I wanted the child to be able to be either gender if possible. I wanted this piece to be relatable and touch the heart.
