A celebration of some of Disney’s most iconic Disney cats of all time. I tried to have all the different cats interacting with each other in this painting, rather than a random collage of cats. You can see Tigger playing around with Rajah from Aladdin in this painting, along with Mufasa taking a peek at Simba from the corn of his eye. Figaro from Pinocchio is following along and pretending to be an Aristotle cat. It was so much fun planning this painting and I’m so happy to see that it turned out so nicely.

Words can not describe how happy I am with how this painting turned out. It started as a practice piece, but it bloomed into this stunning tree that I did not expect.
I’m so in love with this sakura tea theme. Here we have Kaonashi (AKA No Face) visiting Totoro at his tree for tea. I like the fan theory that all the Studio Ghibli movies belong to one timeline, one world. Wouldn’t this be so amazing?

This piece is a homage to what I believe to be the best Studio Ghibli movie produced, Spirited Away. The train scene is one of the most memorable moments in the film. It is the heart of the movie and represents a significant transition. It’s one of a few scenes that has a sense of stillness and reflection.
The idea behind this painting is to capture this sense of self reflection. The cast of characters from the movie represent the wide spectrum of hope, dreams, fears and emotional connection in our lives. Waiting on the platform, the characters are ready for a new journey.
The underlying message is a reminder for us to embrace these mixed feelings, and never apologize for it. Journey on.
As an extra Easter Egg, I’ve added the seagulls in the sky that represents the exact number of previous Studio Ghibli movies prior to the arrival of Spirited away. These movies escort the arrival of the Spirited Away express.

Here I’ve combined two of my favourite Studio Ghibli movies into one piece. The theme is “Never Stop Exploring” and I feel that this message resonates with me for both movies.
I’ve painted in Totoro & friends gazing at Howl’s moving castle from the ground. Here is my little easter egg for the painting: I’ve also added 12 birds flying along side the castle (representing the preceding twelve Studio Ghibli movies that escorted the introduction of Howl’s Moving castle in 2004) .

Just finished watching Little Witch Academia Season 2 on Neflix. I love the positive message behind the storyline and the playfulness of the entire cast of characters. Well done Little Witch Academia! You have captured my heart.
At the end, I decided that the little witch would reach for a star. But not just any star, the star from the playing card “Believing yourself is your own magic” directly from the Little Witch Academia series. It’s such a meaningful line from the series for me.

I had alot of fun playing with the different blend of colours and painting one of my favourite animals, the elephant. To be honest, I have never walked into a flock of butterflies, but I imagine that it can be either very scary OR you can embrace the blissful experience.

Can you tell that I have a sweet tooth for frozen desserts and pandas? I hope you’re catching on to my preferences at this point.
I liked the challenge of painting the ice cream cone for this particular piece. It was more difficult than I thought to paint the perfect medium between crunchiness and not over burnt for the waffle cone, which is sometimes the best part to the whole dessert experience.

Who can resist the beautiful scenery and magnificent story lines of the art from Studio Ghibli? The characters from their productions are simply iconic. They are my all time favorite anime production company. I painted this piece while listening to piano pieces of their animes’ theme songs.
I absolutely love the concept for this piece. My husband and I thought of it together. On the bus schedule, you will see that I’ve replaced the bus times with the year for when each of the their iconic movies were published. The characters at the bus stop are also lined up in accordance with their production year.

Started this beautiful piece on Canada Day. I love the beautiful palette of pastel colours used in this piece. The walls of the ocean also look so translucently magical. Glad that I put in the extra time to fix those details. My husband and I just finished watching the Moana Disney movie one week ago and I have been wanting to paint baby Moana all week. I always thought the movie was missing a scene – the moment when baby Moana high-fives the sea turtle after she helps him back into the ocean. Just my two sense……

Go discover your adventure on your own time, not on someone else’s schedule. I tried to highlight this theme by having Alice holding her own pocket watch, instead of having her chase after a rabbit checking on his own time on his watch.

Painting the world into a more beautiful place. One brush stroke at a time.
This is an Alice in Wonderland inspired piece, combined with a friend’s story of perseverance and grit. Life is not always full of rainbows and roses, but we have the ability to build a ladder and paint our own happiness.
Happiness is a state of mind.
This painting is drawn from the perspective of the audience peaking at Alice painting from behind the bushes.
Each rose that Alice is painting represents a good deed. If we all do one good deed a day, over time, we can create a world into a more beautiful place, just like a beautiful garden of roses that Alice has painted.

‘Moonshine’. Just had this idea for a painting late in the evening and couldn’t stop painting until I got everything down on canvas . With each brush stroke, the idea for the painting flowed out so naturally. The dreamy colours of the fluffy clouds came out just as I had expected. It’s a delicate piece with Alice holding out a teacup to fill out on some magical moonshine. It’s an Alice in Wonderland inspired piece with a twist on the tea party theme.
I originally painted this piece for a nursery. When I finished the piece, I decided to name it Moonshine. This piece has a double meaning. First, it conveys a softness and dreamy like state intended for children. The second meaning highlights how all adults deserve alittle bit of alcohol to get through a rough day.

This was a playful piece that I painted with gouache. The idea for this painting came out very naturally on the water colour paper. Any dream is possible ! I’m sure the gold fishes had always wanted to go for a walk to see the world outside of their fish tanks.

The Hanbok Cat is part of my animals dressed in traditional clothing series painted originally in gouache. The pop of colours added to the hanbok is one of my favourite aspects of this painting. The pattern on the hanbok features cherry blossoms blooming at sunset with a pair of flying cranes meandering by. It’s a piece that exudes warmth and preludes the coming of spring as the cherry blossoms bloom.

The Kimono Panda is one my newest piece painted originally in gouache. As most people may already know, I am a HUGE panda & tea lover. I wanted to integrate the tranquility of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony into this piece. The pop of colours added to the kimono is one of my favourite aspects of this painting and when you look closely, you can see the delicate details of the blossoms blooming on the kimono.

For the month of February, I had dedicated alot of my time to the #opusdailypractice and came up with some great ideas for new techniques and styles. As a result, I did not get a chance to post any of my new work until now.
I’m proud to announce that Peter Panda is making a comeback! As some of you may already know, Peter Panda is the main character for my upcoming Children’s book and I’ve decided to draw a special series dedicated to this playful character.
As well as starting this new series, I have started to work on a new medium called gouache. Gouache is an opaque highly pigmented watermedia that has been around for over 600 years. I am especially excited about this Holbein gouache that I recently purchased from my local Opus.
Hope that you guys enjoy this style as much as I love drawing it.
