This painting is based on my continual interest in classic cameras. In a couple of years, I doubt many kids would know what it means to peak with one eye through a viewfinder. Classic, isn’t it?

These are childhood memories that I still keep.

Growing up in a family with two generations of being in the classic camera business, it is no wonder that I’ve been fascinated by classic cameras as a child. This is one of the cameras that I didn’t really like as a child, but have slowly grown to value its uniqueness as I’ve grown older.

Ever since I was a child, I have been a big fan of both Japanese anime and American Disney.

This painting is inspired by a mash-up from both genres. Specifically, it is from my memories of Bambie  and the Grave of  the Fireflies. They were both cartoons about family and lost. It always made me sad watching both of these movies as a child, but this just proves how great the movies were in conveying and conspiring these emotions.
